Group leader
Prof. Martin Grininger
Martin studied Technical Chemistry in Linz and Graz before completing his PhD at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry (LMU Munich, 2006) with Dieter Oesterhelt on flavin metabolism. He then led a project group at the Max Planck Institute, contributing to the structural understanding of multidomain fatty acid synthases. He received a Lichtenberg Professorship at Goethe University Frankfurt (2012) and was appointed Professor of Biomolecular Chemistry in 2019. His research focuses on fatty acid and polyketide synthases, aiming to understand multienzyme systems at a quantitative level and translate this knowledge into compartmentalized biosynthesis for chemicals and pharmaceuticals
